Cufflinks of the day No.03

In the late 90s Paul Smith’s Covent Garden shop had a stash of New York flea market cufflinks. Of course, like the proto-sartorialist I was then, I brought a lot of them blissfully ignorant of the message in the title–these fine Grecian headed cufflinks could have travelled over in luxury on Concorde with the mark-up I had just paid.

Still, you’ll note that they have a wrap around metal braid which must have been a fashion in the 70s as you’ll rarely see such a detail these days. I wear these a fair bit, the beard motif of the warrior somewhat in keeping with my own. In fact, as I am frequently to be found wandering Melbourne’s Lygon Street in full armour, shield and helmet I think we can say that the similarities don’t just end there.
